Neurotrauma Research Program

The Neurotrauma Research Program (NRP) supports scientific and clinical research in Western Australia which is aimed at improving functional recovery from injuries to the central nervous system (neurotrauma). These catastrophic injuries include traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury and brain damage caused by stroke.

Supporting research to minimise damage, and maximise recovery, is crucial for the quality of life and independence of survivors and their families. The NRP plays a vital role in reducing the human and economic impact of these injuries in the Western Australian community.

The Neurotrauma Research Program receives funding from the Department of Health, the Insurance Commission of Western Australia, and private donations. The NRP supports scientists in Western Australia to become prominent internationally in the field of neurotrauma research, and assists students of neuroscience to present their work at national conferences.
