The Perkins Laboratory Head of Liver Disease and Carcinogenesis, Professor George Yeoh, has been selected to help create strategies which will help to get better outcomes for Australian cancer patients.
Professor Yeoh says he’s proud to have been appointed as a Western Australian representative on the Cancer Australia Advisory Council, which meets in Canberra.
He says it’s also good to have a representative from the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research on the council and he looks forward to making a difference by advising on cancer research, control and care.
Professor Yeoh was appointed to the position by the Minister for Health, the Hon. Sussan Ley for a period of three years.
Cancer Australia was established by the Australian Government in 2006 to reduce the impact of cancer and improve the wellbeing of people affected by cancer.
As the lead national cancer control agency, Cancer Australia makes recommendations to the Australian Government about cancer policy and priorities.
