MACA Ride to Conquer Cancer - 21 & 22 October 2017
Challenge yourself and make a difference in 2017
Cancer shatters lives. Ride to help fund life-saving cancer research.
The MACA Ride to Conquer Cancer is a 200km, two-day cycling event that raises vital funds for cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.
Since the first Ride in 2011, Perth riders and their supporters have raised over $23 million to sustain important research for community health.
Ride donations have helped bring world-class scientists to Perth, funded unique cancer investigations and brought high-tech equipment to Western Australia to fast-track research outcomes.
MACA, the Ride's title sponsor and top fundraising team, has raised over $4.5 million through their committed 300-person team.
The top individual fundraiser in 2016 was Grant Menhennet, who was introduced to the Ride by MACA. The Komatsu Major Account Manager single-handedly raised more than $43,000.
“My main motivation for fundraising for the Perkins is how cancer touches so many people of all ages and the need for research that makes a real difference to people’s lives,” Mr Menhennet said.
The MACA Ride to Conquer Cancer is for anyone who wants to challenge themselves for a great cause. Riding 200km is hard, but dealing with a cancer diagnosis is harder. Do something epic in 2017.
Starting a corporate team in the MACA Ride to Conquer Cancer benefits the community, the individuals involved and your business in general. Riding and fundraising together for a common cause builds morale and initiates healthy competition amongst colleagues. The Ride also promotes health and well-being, which studies have shown equates to reduced sick leave and improved performance. Title sponsor MACA, has seen their corporate team of over 300 riders lose a cumulated tonne of weight from training. Corporate teams are encouraged to create branded ride apparel, which increases corporate visibility in the community. The hard work and motivation of employees is seen as a goodwill gesture within the local community. Most importantly, the money raised is used immediately in the fight against cancer. Your efforts support vital research initiatives to deliver lasting health benefits for everyone.
