Venue:
McCusker Auditorium, Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, Nedlands

Assistant Professor Marcin Poreba is the Head of Mass Cytometry Facility at Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, Poland. He obtained his PhD in Chemistry at Wroclaw University of Technology in 2014. During his PhD studies, he co-developed a HyCoSuL (Hybrid Combinatorial Substrate Library), a chemical platform that is currently the state-of-the-art technology for the development of protease selective substrates, inhibitors, and activity-based probes (17 papers in peer-reviewed journals).

He was then recruited as a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow in Salvesen Laboratory at Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute in La Jolla, CA, USA (2014-2017). During this period he leveraged the HyCoSuL chemistry to obtain selective probes targeting cancer-associated proteases for in vitro and in vivo applications (15 publications; 7 first-author and 6 corresponding authorships in peer-review journals including Nature Protocols and Chemical Reviews).

He recently relocated to Wroclaw University of Science and Technology to establish a new laboratory that creates novel visualisation platform for dissecting the role of proteases in cancer.
