Practical advice

It could be the most important gift you ever give

Thank you for considering leaving us a gift in your Will – Your will is one of the most important things you’ll ever write, and we can help by giving you some information that may assist you. For legal advice or for support with writing or changing your Will, we recommend you speak to a solicitor.

A bequest is a gift left to a beneficiary in an individual's will. There are several types of bequests which may include:

  • A residuary bequest (what is left of the estate once all commitments have been met).

  • A percentage of an estate.

  • A pecuniary bequest (a specific sum).

  • A specific gift (assets such as real estate, items or shares).

If you have a specific wish or purpose for your gift, you may want to include this in your Will. Please contact us beforehand to ensure we can adhere to your wishes.

Once you have made the decision to support the future of medical research by leaving a gift in you will, we recommend you firstly discuss your decision with your family and loved ones. We then ask that you please inform us so that we can thank you personally and keep you updated about our plans for the future.
