This week, enthusiastic members of the Westcoast Community Centre visited the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research for a tour and a hands-on Live in the Lab session. The group of 38 were taken on a guided tour of the new state-of-the-art research hub, with a stopover in the Lotterywest BioDiscovery Centre, before finishing up their visit in the newly opened Coffee Anatomy café.

Penrhos students graduate first ever Perkins Profs Academy

Sixteen enthusiastic and talented Penrhos College students recently completed a fifteen week extracurricular course in the Lotterywest BioDiscovery Centre. The education outreach program, named Perkins Profs Academy, featured hands-on activities that gave students some practical skills in medical science and offered an insight into the working life of a researcher.

Penrhos College students with a flair for science were the first in line to experience the inaugural “Perkins Profs Academy” program at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research this week. The students spent the day in the recently opened Lotterywest BioDiscovery Centre, extracting DNA and examining cells on research grade equipment. Read more
