The Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research is grateful for the ongoing support and involvement of our Patron, The Honourable Kim Beazley, AC, 33rd Governor of Western Australia.
Message from our Patron
This generation of Western Australians has an historic opportunity, and responsibility, to dramatically accelerate the understanding and treatment of disease.
The Perkins has two world class medical research facilities, at QEII Medical Centre in Nedlands and the Fiona Stanley Hospital in Murdoch.
Through its research programs and new facilities, the Institute is creating the capacity for Western Australia to:
- work on vital and challenging medical research.
- develop innovative approaches to the treatment of diseases.
Dedicated to defeating disease through research, and translating discoveries into prevention of disease and treatment of patients, Perkins researchers will have state-of-the-art facilities, expanding the State’s capacity to tackle and overcome major health problems.
As patron of the Perkins, and a long term supporter of the importance of scientific research, I would hope that the Western Australian community will continue to strongly support the Institute and so ensure that the new facilities will also have the latest equipment and are staffed by the world’s best researchers and doctors. This will be to the great benefit of present and future generations of Western Australians.
