Professor Peter Leedman

Professor Peter J Leedman – Director
Professor Leedman took on the role of Director of the Perkins early in 2014.  He graduated in Medicine from The University of Western Australia in 1981 and then undertook specialist training in Endocrinology. He completed PhD studies at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research in 1991 and undertook post-doctoral studies at Harvard Medical School. He returned to Australia in 1994 as a Senior Lecturer in Medicine based at Royal Perth Hospital. In 2003, he was appointed as Professor of Medicine and Deputy Director of WAIMR as well as Director of Research at Royal Perth Hospital. Professor Leedman’s laboratory studies hormones and how they act in breast and prostate cancer.

 Peter-Thompson


Professor Peter Thompson AM  - Deputy Director

Professor Thompson is Deputy Director. He graduated in Medicine from The University of Western Australia in 1964 and obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 1973.  In 1977 he obtained his Fellowship of the American College of Cardiology and in 1978 Fellowship of the American College of Physicians.  He supervises one of the largest cardiovascular clinical trials unit in Australia. He is Director of Research Development and a cardiologist at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, and Clinical Professor Medicine and Population Health at UWA.
